Places Visited
I visited Rachel and Derek near Albany. We ate at More Perrecas Bakery in Schenectady. It is a popular place in Albany's Little Italy and I can see why!
I went to the American Museum of Natural History and saw the planetarium show, the 3-D IMAX show, a walk through exhibit with live butterflies, a walk through exhibit about the brain, and a walk through exhibit about Tibetian medicine. I enjoyed the walk from the Port Authority since the weather was beautiful!
On anther day, I walked form the Port Authority to the Museum of Arts and Design at Columbus Circle. I took a guided tour with a docent and enjoyed it very much. The featured exhibit was "Design Out of Africa: A New Frontier for Collecting" and I liked it and found it very educational, especially because of the excellent information provided by the docent.
On my third day in the New York City, I walked to Rockefeller Center and took a guided art walk. It was great and I highly recommend it. I also walked through St. Patrick's Cathedral which was right across the street. Because it was Easter Week, there were a lot of people, flowers, and decorations to help make the area even more exciting. It was a foggy day so there was zero visibility from the Top of the Rock and from the Empire State Building. I hope to visit both of those places in the future, however. On the way back to the Port Authority, I stopped for a falafel at Maoz Vegetarian at 683 8th Avenue. I had not had one before and I really liked it!
Rachel invited Derek, my mother, and me to a delicious home cooked meal at her house. She is a marvelous cook and makes everything from scratch, many times using what she has grown herself. We had a great time!
Rachel ran in the Muddy Marathon in Newfoundland, New Jersey and I met some relatives there to cheer her on. Then we went to eat the Evergreen Restaurant in Oak Ridge, New Jersey for a delicious Chinese meal. Rachel really liked the run although it was difficult and we all enjoyed the nice spring weather.
